About Us

Losing the ability to read and have meaningful conversations can be devastating, especially for those affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s. Watching my own father and mother-in-law struggle with these conditions was heart-wrenching. I saw firsthand how it robbed them of the joy that books once brought them and made it difficult to connect with them during visits.

However, they did enjoy looking at photos, and I was reminded of my daughter’s favourite book. A book with only three words on the last page, but filled with illustrations that we would describe to each other, over and over again.

These moments inspired the creation of something that could bring back the magic of reading in a calm yet engaging way, perhaps sparking memories and allowing a way to interact with a loved one.

I truly believe that these books have the power to start conversations, bring smiles, and even evoke precious memories. They’re a small but meaningful way to help those affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s connect with the world around them and feel a sense of joy and wonder. Enjoy reading and engaging with your loved ones using these books.

P.S. If you’re wondering where we got the name “Pretty Puppy Press” from, while my father and mother-in-law didn’t always know who I was, when visiting I would always bring my dog Bijoux (the blonde Pomeranian pictured here). Seeing her always made them happy, bringing a big smile to their faces!
